We didn’t have KIDMO today. We’ve progressed from children not having any programming during worship to children’s leaving after worshp before the sermon, to now children’s worship every week the whole worship time except for the first Sunday. The first Sunday is an opportunity for families to worship together and for me to recharge myself. I love the opportunity to be in worship with the adults, although I love being with the kids each week. It’s what I do. It’s what I’m passionate about. But sometimes, being in worship that I’m not involved in the planning or executing of – is like frosting on the cake. Today was like that. It was awesome just being free in worship. Communion had special significance as I haven’t taken it in a while, it was fresh and real. I truly just felt the presence of the Spirit in that place today.
In the Fall we will have the kids 52 weeks a year in Children’s Worship, I am excited about this opportunity to teach them in an age appropriate way week to week. The momentum will be there each week and there won’r be “down” weeks to be in adult worship with families. I know there are debates on whether kids should be in church with their families or not and maybe I’ll post my thoughts on that another day.
In a bit we’re going a birthday party for a friend’s kid. Then we’re finished with our weekend activities. Both boys have ear infections and are grumpy caterpillars. I’m hoping the meds kick in SOON!
